Civil - Geotechnical Engineer [Diploma in Civil Engineering (National Technical University of Athens – 2000), DEA Mécanique des Sols (Ecole National des Ponts et Chaussées - Ecole Centrale Paris - Ecole Polytechnique 2002)].
Sophie completed her studies at the National Technical University of Athens in 2000. From 2001 to 2002 she worked for the Municipality of Ano Liossia where she mainly participated in programs regarding building classification (damaged buildings by the major earthquake of 09/1999 in Athens). During the same period she also acquired experience as a freelancer working on various projects. In the next year, Sophie enhanced her academic background in the field of Soil Mechanics, in Paris (Ecole National des Ponts et Chaussées - Ecole Centrale Paris - Ecole Polytechnique), where she completed successfully her DEA, while acquiring work experience as a researcher. From 2002 – present Sophie has a long-term collaboration with EDAFOS S.A.. During this period she has been involved in many investigation and design geotechnical projects regarding slope stabilization, reinforced embankments, soil liquefaction, shallow and deep foundation design, landslide stabilization measures, ground improvement, design and monitoring of dams. Sophie has extensive experience in planning, organizing and managing large scale civil works, as well as estimating - monitoring project’s BOQ and budget. Sophie is actively involved in activities related to the Science of Civil Engineering as a member of the i) Technical Chamber of Greece (TEE), ii) International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), iii) Hellenic Society of Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (HSSMGE). She has participated in conferences related to the field of geotechnical engineering and taken part in the organization committee of the 6th National Conference on Geotechnical Engineering (Volos-Greece, 2010). |
