Short Curriculum Vitae of Sergios Kompogiorgas
Sergios Kompogiorgas was born in Athens and graduated (2002) from the Civil Engineering Department of the National Technical Universtity of Athens (NTUA). Ηe undertook further education at Imperial College, University of London where he was awarded, in 2003, a MSc in Soil Mechanics.
Between 2003 to 2004 he worked as a Geotechnical Engineer in the company Fondasol and then as Director of the British Branch in the company Fondasol UK Ltd. From 2005 to 2006 worked as a Geotechnical Engineer in the firm WS Atkins Ltd.
Since 2006 Sergios is a permanent collaborator of Edafos S.A.. His main working tasks include: Geotechnical Design of Structures, Slope Stability Analysis and Modelling, Earthworks and Foundation Designs, Design of Underground Structures, Landslides stabilizations measures, Planning and Supervision of laboratory and field tests, Presentation and Evaluation of Geotechnical Research, Structural Design.
He is a Geotechnical Engineer with more than 10 years work experience on a number of major infrastructure projects such as the London Underground, the Battersea Power Station (London), the EGNATIA Highway and the Central Greece Motorway E65.
Sergios has been responsible for over 60 Geotechnical Designs in all the core business areas where the company has a presence. He is a member of the International Society for Soil Mechanics and Geotechnical Engineering (ISSMGE), the International Society for Rock Mechanics (ISRM), the Technical Chamber of Greece, the Hellenic Scientific Society for Soil Mechanics and Foundations Engineering and the Hellenic Society for Large Dams.
